A Verbalist.  Did you know that's a word?  Well, its me, in nutshell.  I've always loved reading - and writing.  

You wouldn't believe how many (bad!) poems I've written in my life.  

But I just kept writing, even when there was no one else to encourage me. 

I tell all aspiring writers to completely ignore everyone who tells you writing 

- isn't a "real job" or 

-that you'll never make any real money as a writer.  

What do they know?

I ignored all the naysayers and well-meaning pessimists who were "just trying to help" and now I make my living with words.  

Words make can make us laugh out loud, cry into our pillows, shout with joy or scream with frustration.  

They can wound, or they can heal, but they always make us feel something. 

As a realistic optimist, my books for the very young are usually filled with humor and heart.

My notebook, on the other hand, follows a meandering journey of great lines by other authors, musings, random thoughts and quotes  - anything that catches my eye and calls out to me on any particular day.  

Whether you're a reader or a writer, we're here to encourage each other.

Words really do feel my soul, and I hope that someday, 

a few of my own words might help feed yours too.
